Will be going to fish at Burt and Mullett Mid-July and we have a small private tourney between many competitve friends and would like to get some info on where to fish for Smallies and Walleye at that time of year. Can someone give me some help and maybe a local contact? Thanks ahead!

Check the fishing report on this board. The mouth of the Cheboygan river is excellent for smallies
On Burt Lake by July the eyes will be in at least 30 ft. of water. On the East side of the lake there is a radio tower about half way up the lake. Try fishing out from the tower in the 30 - 36 ft. depths. Also below the tower is a point called Chippewa Beach on any map, though the locals will call it stoney point. The deeper water will be much closer to shore there which may help hold the fish in. Mullet Lake has much more structure to it and holds bigger fish, but usually you will not catch as many. At the top of Mullet there is a pretty big sunken Island with some sharp drop offs that can be a very good producer. I hope that this helps with the Walleye fishing. As for the other type, I,m not sure why you would want to put one of those fish in your boat!!!

there are only two reasons i can think of that would make you not see why someone would fish for smallies:
1) you have never caught one
2) you are an idiot!
to Smally ( I,m assuming you have that name because you like to fish for smallmouth)
I didn,t mean to offend you or anyone else. I am just in the habit of giving bass fisherman a hard time because I work with a couple of them and we are always harassing one another about it.

jld, that's cool. sorry i went off. i too have been known to give the "bass boys" a hard time. i just don't view smallies as bass. they are somehow above that.
