Friend of mine is going out on a headboat friday out of Port Clinton.
He was asking me all kinds of questions and I had no real good answers , as I've never been out on a head boat for walleyes. 1) what to take to keep his fish he catches in? does he need his own cooler? 2) best lures now for drifting? earie dearies? pa's lures? bottom bouncers? 3) what are chances of getting tangled with so many others fishing close to ya?
answers to these and any tips that I can relay would be much appreciated.
thanks

he will need a cooler to bring his fish home in . a stringer to "mark " his fish with while they are in the boats big cooler.erie dearies work well. fish the rear of the boat and work the lure in the swing pattern. buy your bait there and bring your lunch and soft drinks with you.

Mike, tell him to take Flippin Harnesses, Casting Harnesses, Weapon, or Mayfly Rigs (they are all about the same thing). Wt needed depends on the drift/wind speed that day. Use only a 1" piece of worm to let the thing swim, and drag it near the bottom. He'll do as good as anyone else.

Then after they start going, take him with you and show him how the "big boys" do it. LOL

Good luck.

A headboat is a rather large charter boat. Most headboats carry twenty to thirty anglers. It is called a headboat because, each angler pays only for himself (usually around thirty dollars a head). They are good for guys who can't get enough buddies together to go out on a six man charter. The Capt. pretty much takes you to the fish, and you are on your own from there. Very similar to a deep sea fishing trip.
