i leave by a creek that supports trout about two miles up creek. the water where i am at is too warm or dirty i guess for trout. they say that there are fish in it, but do you think there could be chubs or minnows in there? the name of it is Rapid Creek, in Rapid City, SD.
If so, what is a good trap to buy and where can I buy one???
thanks guys
Also, where is a good place to set it? eddies......?

ryan,
Are you go back to your old handle? Some things are just better to leave alone. I always thought it was unique, glad to see you are using it again.

Chances are very good the creak has minnows. Use one of the traps that have a funnel at the front and rear. They are normally made of metal mesh but some are plastic. Put some bread in the trap and a rock in it to keep it settled on the bottom. Place the trap in a slightly deeper hole so the water flows through it. As the minnows start taisting the bread in the water they will move upstream up into the funnel section, into the trap, and will have a very difficult time getting out of it. It normally only take a few hours to get some minnows.

well, i have the nightcrawlers out my door at night and hopefully i can get the minnows out back. now all i need are some frogs right?
i guess i need some time to fish too. workin 12hrs a day 6 days a week. thats what it takes to get through college though. maybe the poor college kid is a good name after all.

the best minnow trap is a glass trap. it looks like a big 5 gallon glass bottle cept it has holes shaped like funnels in its sides and a top.you just cant toss it around like the wire ones.
