I'm sure alot of you guys have problems with your dogs emitting horrible gas. Have any of you guys had luck when switching food brands to lessen the gas and if so, what brand and formula has worked the best? It seems like no matter what, my chocolate lab has horrible gas in the house. I have tried Iams, Ekanuba and am currently on Science Pro lamb and rice. While it's not as bad with the Science Pro as with the others, it's still bad. I've noticed he's more hyperactive with the science pro than the other previous brands if that makes a difference.
I feed my dog Purina adult dog chow and have no problem with gas.

2 Labs here. Good luck with "Retriever" Brand 50# or 55# bags at TSC Tractor Supply Company. The GREEN BAG.

I switched to Grain Free food and noticed a lot less cleanup in the backyard and less gas. I buy Nutrisource...I've become a believer in grain free food.

x2 which probably relates to less nutrition since not as rich as the premium brands but no gas either.

Try to get to a good local pet food store, not a big chain store, and ask about some of the good local brands. If you do some research you will find that most of the big name, higher cost foods are not very good at all. You still usually have to pay a little more, but make sure you are getting what you pay for.
I use Nutrisource also and I have two very active pointing dogs, but you will want to use a dog food that fits your dog. Following is a good source:

We have used the costco brand of Kirkland Signature Adult Dog Formula "both chicken and lamb" Figure about $25 40lbs
Never any gas from this food and she likes it.

As a side note: The costco super premium dog biscuits are her favorite treat.
She goes nuts for them, her limit is one a day just prior to bed time.

We use Beneful weight control & Pedigree for large breeds for our three pointers (2 GSP'S & a weimer). We buy our dog food at Costco or Sam's so that we can get the largest bags available at a reasonable cost.

Be careful to check with your vet. Lack of roughage will stop gas, but it also could hurt your dog.

After a lifetime of owning dogs (almost always ESS Field breds) , it seems to me that dogs are like people. Some fart alot, some don't.
For example: As usual, we have two dogs right now,and feed them Science Diet
Gas: YES...on one dog, and NO on the other....... and they are sisters.

Each dog is different. Some dogs may have gas with one brand of food and some may not. It is a trial and error basis. Keep trying different foods but don't switch them cold turkey. Look for common grain/protein sources and eliminate them one by one. E.G. if your foods have chicken and corn as a main ingredient, look for a food that uses lamb and rice or grain free with a different protein.
Good Luck
