WHILE surfing the net today I discovered an interesting site that contained quite a"fish story".I have every reason to believe that this story is accurate. Russ Cole while fishing solo on december 23,1996,in the Bay of Quinte,Ontario, caught a 20.7 LB.walleye. All the more remarkable is the report that he lost an eye of greater proportion on a prior trolling pass that same evening.Guess where I will be headed this december. My question to any fellow trophy hunters, other than the Bay of Quinte, where, when, and how would you go about duplicating the exploits of the above mentioned Mr.Cole? You may want to consider Erie in early spring or late fall. Lots of fish over 10, but over 20 I'd simply have to see for myself. Huron in Dec. and reef area in late March or early April.

THAT 20# WALLEYE COULD VERY WELL BE TRUE I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THE CATCH 15#+ WALLEYES DURING ICE FISHING SEASON. I GO TO PICTON ONT. EVERY YEAR AND HAVE SEEN SOME MONSTERS MOUNTED IN TACKLE SHOPS. CHECK OUT BAY OF QUINTE FISHING REPORTS.

I know of two 16+ that came out of the Flint river in Michigan, Rumors of a 18+ last year where running around with many people claiming to have seen it before it was released. I would have to beleave that there's a 20 running around in one of these non-popular spots, Its like Largemouths, Nobody was getting close to the record untill they found those monstor Bass in California, But now everybodys been outthere trying to catch the record and you have to beleave that the added pressure ruined thier chances, So if you know about these secret little monstor holes don't broadcast them, Because they will come in droves....

It's not hard to imagine a 20 lber or two swimming around the Great lakes somewhere. The Colo. state record of 18 lbs came from a 1000 acre lake here in town. It wouldn't surprise me to hear of such fish coming out of Fort Peck either, or Canyon Ferry in Montana.

Check out the Quinte site. www.quintefishing.com They have had the story and pic up there for going on 2 years now. I have fished the NY and Ontario waters of Lk Ontario, they have some enormous fish there. Many of those Quinte fish migrate there from NY. Biologists are predicting a new state record there of over 16# soon. Quinte produces many 15# fish thru the ice. Awesome fish!:7

Hi Folks,
I am the publisher of the quintefishing.com site so I thought I'd step in here and put my vote on quinte. The 20.07lber looks much better in person but even the pics are good. Just look at the belly on the fish and you know its BIGGG. Quinte has a very legit shot at a new world record this fall and perhaps winter. Come Nov-Dec I am out 2-3 nights a week and have caught too many double digit eyes to count. 12 and 13lbers are common with 15 - 18lbers less common but hardly rare. The truly great thing about Quinte is you don't have to do it in a Big rig. Russ caught the fish from in his car topper!
If you want to experience this in person I still have dates for this fall available. delliot@quintefishing.com
