does anyone have a lowrance LMS-240 and if so how do you like it

does it show fish on the bottom and thermoclines etc.?

I just put one in my boat and tried it last night for the first time. It does dig fish out of the bottom but I dont know about thermocline. I was very impressed by this new unit. Its much easier to use than my old LMS-160. The WAAS is very impressive, as well as sonar. I was a little reluctant to try a new unit such as this but after one outing I'm not sorry that I got it. In fact I'd never go back to the LMS-160. Larry

I like the resolution and power, but am a little skeptical of the screen size, it's smaller than the X91. When you split screen to have both GPS and Sonar on, you have a really small viewing area. If I were thinking of spending spend 600.00 for a unit, i'd spend a little more and go X-15.

I believe the screen size is the same as the x-91

and the 15 is alittle more than double the price

rebs--x-91 and the 2400 is a good and economical set-up. combination units have their place and lots of people love them, i like 2 units. the resolution is as good or better than the 15.

nope, it's about 1/4" smaller. Price for a basic x-15 is 699.99 w/ gps mod it's about 1000.00 and now there's rebates on the X-15 which can make getting the GPS mod Free (300.00 rebate when purchasing the GPS and Speed sensor)

on the lowrance web site they detail them both as 5" diag screen
in bass pro and cabelas they describe them both as 3.3" screen

where did you see that the X-91 is 1/4" bigger

also the 300.00 rebate is on the color unit only lcx15ci which is about 1800.00 I believe

I have taken a close look at both and I think for the money and what you get, the lms 240 is the way to go

I don't really use the gps that much, just nice to have and the lms 240 is an X-91 with gps added on

an X-91 is about 399.00 and the LMS-240 is 469.00 at Gaylans so you are getting an X-91 and adding the gps for 69.95 more

I looked at the X-15 and would have gotten it but I dont have a space that is big enough for it. It's one great unit but I had to get something that I could fit into my tiller boat. The LMS-240 is smaller than I'd prefer but it fits all my needs. I did get the Navionics Map MMC Card and I'm disappointed with it. It lacks a lot of detail, but I guess you cant have everything. I'm looking for other map sources that could be programmed onto a MMC Card but so far nobody can tell me if this is possible. As I said in my last post, I'm very impressed with the LMS-240. Larry

lowrance is supposed to be putting out a gps manager program that will allow you to enter data to the mmc's on your computer, the program on their website now doesn't address usb ports

lake master puts out a great map on cd, I have the one for lake erie and it is very good, but as of yet they do not have a new version for the lms-240

I have seen the Lake master and I think its great. I'll be looking foreward to having the capability to use their maps in my unit. Thanks for the input. Larry

I stand corrected on the price Rebs....the erbate is on the CI x-15.!!

The size, Im not wrong on, I helped a customer buy a LMS-240 and we compared the screen size to an X91 which was on display right under the LMS.

I dont know how well the LMS is going to sell, people who want to spend almost 600.00 are willing to pay almost 1000.00 for a better unit in the x15mt....we'll see, but I have a feeling I'll be buying one on clearance pretty soon

there are some posts on here about the 15 saying they are having trouble with the 50, 200 transducer and also with the software upgrade
what do you hear about it
