My party will be fishing on Flood wood lake in Cochrane, Ontario. I would greatly appreciate any information on which type baits to use to catch walleye.

Hey BoogerJ,

Sounds like you're doing a fly-in with Air Cochrane?? When are you going? We did a trip last year thru Mark Jones and Air Cochrane to Unknown Lake for the third week of August...superb sums it up best.

For walleye, jig heads and twistertails, 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 oz. in case the wind picks up and you've got a fast drift going. Twistertails in white (pearl), black and green. Black worked best for us. Also had real fine results with 1/2 oz. leadhead paddletails (2 1/2 - 3 inches).

More than once we hit 30 walleyes in a 300 yard drift (25-40 minutes). Don't be surprised if you have pike nail your jig!

Get out early enough in the morning, you're in some prime moose country.

Have your pilot circle the lake for you MORE than once and remember the spots he tells you. Saves some scouting time.

If you've any specific questions, feel free to e-mail me.

Good luck!
