Hi! I hope I did not offend anyone! I just wanted to really know if men took fisher women seriously? If so, do you enjoy our company and the changlenge of competition with us? Let me know because I am a die heart fisher woman with no kid's and a desire to spend time with my wonderful husband and fish the heck out of the area where we live: Banks Lake, Osborne Bay, and Lake Roosevelt. Sincerely, A woman that truly loves to fish and catch and release when necessary!!!

This subject's come up before, but I think it's great if my wife wants to go fishing with me. If she's along, it takes some of the pressure off my being away, having fun, etc.. It does'nt bother me a bit if she outdoes me in catching either, actually, I don't think I could ever do better than her best! (48" Musky)

You are really awesome!! Please tell Your wife that I really appreciate someone kmowing what it is like to fish with your siginificant other. The husband and I fish together all the time and we never even think of how we relate to fisher other fisher man's status! To say the least, we enjoy each other's company and have the passion to fish like you would not believe.
Thank you for your response, I would imagine your wife feels the same way! Thank you very much for your input!
Thank you. You sound like and experienced fisher women! I absolutly love to fish and have not yet had the experience to meet other women that either love to fish or enter contest!!!
Thanks for your input,
Ruby

Mary Beth Kibler is a guide on Fort Peck here in Montana (so is her husband Myron) and almost always pairs with another woman to fish Montana Circuit tournaments on the lake. She's a good guide -- and definitely a good fisherwoman. She also likes to guide women out on the lake. Finally, there will be at least two women's walleye tournaments on the lake again this summer. More and more women are fishing for walleyes -- and that's a good thing! -- mark

I think men absolutely take fisher women seriously.... "do you enjoy our company and the changlenge of competition with us?"... Absolutely. I just wish there were more of them around. I havn't met too many women here in NW Ohio who are really into fishing.... thats Fisher women without a fishing partner anyways. I think the guys with wifes who are dedicated fishing partners may be some of the luckiest guys around.
Good Fishing,
Jess

Quill, I have to think its great that my fiancee loves to fish. What I enjoy more than fishing with her is when we bow hunt together. Its hilerious to watch how much excited she gets when the seasons approach. She doesnt just bow hunting but rifle and bird hunting ( pheasants, ducks, turkeys). From the experience we have had, I know she is into the sport for the long haul. I just have to keep her warm and comfortable. Hope everyone has the same luck. Happy fishing and hunting ( if u hunt).

And I thought this was about sticking a needle in a woman's air bladder before releasing them??? LOL
My wife started fishing to make sure we would spend time with each other. She surprised the daylights out of herself when she found out how much fun it was and how beatiful a Canadian lake can be at sunrise. Now when you mention double digit walleyes around her you can see her eyebrows go together. She has turned into a first rate walleye fishperson.
Guys be patient with the introduction to the sport and cut out the jokes and replace them with lots of encouragement. My wife and I have spent 31 years together and had one wonderful time together on fishing trips enjoying each other and the sport.
Ladies, don't stick your nose in the air like your mother did. Give it a try. You are going to find out about something really wonderful. No one can explain it you; you have to experiance the sport. Try reading McManus's "Fine and Pleasant Misery" it will give you some insight into the wonderful world out of doors.

I used to fish on about 4 out of 5 outings until Junior came along.
Now that he is four and has at least a five minuete attention span the three of us are fishing together. It's nice to have my fishing partner back. However she still catches more fish than I do. As for the little guy, he'd rather be out on the boat than in a candy store.
I think I'm createing a monster. (with any luck) Had him on the river at five am yesterday,he spent for hours in the boat before he got board. When I woke him for day care this morning he got mad because we weren't going fishin. Love to fish with my wife, best fishin partner I've had, but know I'm lucky I've got two great fishin partners

I can never figure out what the big deal is about woman doing anything. My mom had me in the bottom of a boat on a blanket at about 2yrs old. She is the one who taught me and the older ones how to fish. She has passed and I now have kids and grandkids. I have shared it with them, some like it some don't but at least they have a chance.
I had the same questions in sports. My sister taught me how to hit a baseball and shoot a jump shot. She played, pro baseball and is in the hall of fame, so do not give me that she throws like a girl stuff.
I can tell u that in my professional life the addition of women has added a needed balance and insight. Seems to me it is the same in fishing.
Welcome Aboard

It can be a pain to take them to shore when they get bored. But if you force them to stay in the boat, on a deer stand or in a duck blind when they are not having a good time they are going to hate being there and not want to do it again.
Pat K
That goes for boys or girls, a bored kid is a bored kid.
I agree with you about questions of women doing anything. I also question why there are tournaments for women only - I think they were set up by men who were afraid of getting beat! My wife has been my fishing partner for 36 years and has outfished me many times. My mother also enjoyed fishing as much as my dad. She spent many Mother's Days sitting in a leaky resort rowboat (as Mother's Day invariably falls on the opener of the Walleye season in Minnesota). She and Dad are gone now but the memories of her catching the largest northern ever caught in our family is still fresh.
I am surprised this is even a question on this board.

I fish with a female partner in Erie tournaments and just for the fun of it! The question I hear most isn't "Why would you fish with her?" it is "Why would she fish with you?" I have no doubt that she could handle Lake Erie with any partner she would choose and I'm glad to have her! The only thing that I've done differently from anyone else was to give her the opportunity.

:* my husband and i have fished tournaments together for 5 yrs and we pleasure fish too. i have asked him if he would like to have another guy as his partner and he gets offended and thinks i dont want to fish with him! i do of course, as far as all the other guys in the tournaments, they have been great. they treat me like one of them and even ask me for help or advise. i have come across only about 1 % that were obnoxious to me. for all the women out there that want too but are a little afraid too jump, just do it you will enjoy it. too all those men that encourage the famales thank you
