canada is a very nice place but they have a double standard for us citezins check the laws carefully; wisconsin has some real perty country up in the door county area and bufflo county; and minnesota so many lakes so little time.the north shore has a spectacular view of the big water with charters all along the shore line in the big towns.lots of options makes it hard to decide. good luck and have a good time.
If you want to have the highest chances of a successful fishing trip on unfamiliar waters I suggest hiring a guide for the first day or two, then modeling your techniques off of his.
Good luck,
Ryan
p.s. I live in Minnesota and give this state a vote

Wisconsin and Minnesota are great places. However, the walleye address is CANADA. If you really want to blow your mind, do a fly in to a lake that will be all yours for a week. It just does not get any better.
Ihave fished leech lake in minn. for 8 years,it is really a great place to go,pleanty of resorts to choose from. But if want terrific walleye and smallmouth bass fishing try Canada.Found a great drive to spot, not that big of a dent on your pocket book. You can either camp at the campground our rent a cottage at the resort, boat and motor included at the resort.Fished it last year wow is the walleye fishing great.Going back july 15th .with pleanty of beer this time!web site is www.separationlakelodge.com Well great fishing to you and good luck on your choice see you on the water.Rich

Don't rule out ND/SD either! Devils Lake and Waubay Lake are walleye machines these days! Huge pike and perch as well to fill the day's outing.
In the ND/MN/SD area there are many prime lakes to choise from, rivers too. If I had to pick just one , man that would be a hard choice to make!
Look them over........

Tim; Some things to consider include; How far/long do you want to drive? Can you afford a fly-in? Do you need other attractions (stores, malls, mega-malls, Great America, golfing or horseback riding etc) to keep the interest for your girlfriend high? Is beautiful scenery part of the deal? Are you camping, or resort, or motel or high quality lodging? Do you want to catch a few wallys or do you want to really get down on em? Do you have a boat? Or would resort boats be necessary?
These are just a few thoughts. Answers to these questions will very quickly help you figure out where to go! Good Luck. Walleye Mike
