With a lot of the new boats being rated for up to 300 hp, has there been any rumors of Mercury coming out with a 300 Pro XS engine? I know they have the racing 300 XS, but I keep waiting for the 300 Pro XS.

Hey Jon, what do you perceive would be the difference between the racing 300XS, and a ProXS version?

I would assume pricing. Why do they have a racing 250xs and a 250 sport xs, along with a 250 Pro XS? It used to be the 250 XS Opti was only available as a racing model. Why did they introduce the 250 Pro XS?

I wouldn't want to ding the prop on the Racing version.

Or maybe I just like the looks of the Pro XS?

someone had told me once that the big difference was hard(merc racing) vs soft (merc) motor mounts, and there was a bit more detail (less mass production) in the racing version....I'm not sure about this, just one person's input to me.

The 300XS is also a 3.2L stroker motor.

The power head is the same in the XS and Pro XS, the assembly of the XS is done in the racing division individually where as the pro xs is an assembly line production, the lower unit is different along with the prop shaft according to what I was informed. I run a XS racing and love it, sounds mean and performs well.

I like the warranty of the pro xs vs. xs. I too wish this would come out in a pro xs.

I would have ordered the XS when I got my boat back in 08 but the warranty and the use of premium is what pushed me to get the 250 Pro XS instead a 300 Pro xs would be sweet, they make the pro verado in the 300 might as well make a 2 stroke pro xs! would be one sweet motA!
