We fished around the Santee /Springfield area in the morning. A little live baiting a little trolling . Water was fast on the fish had lock jaw. Got a big fat 0. Since we in the water & docked on the Nebraska side . We decided to try the bezel ramp and fish around their. Boy what a difference that made.We were back to the ramp by 2.PM with a healthy limit of real nice sauger & walleye.. We fill our van and boat tanks at the gas station. Before going across the bridge . Couple other boats were doing the same. They said they got their limits at the mouth of ponca and highline. They did have bigger fish then we had..
Anyone know how to get to the highline hole is from the standing bear bridge.

Yes. I may have miss read the sign. It's old and perrty well weathered. Just about 1/2 mile west of the bazile creek on hwy 12 turn north on the sand /gravel road. Or about 2 miles East on hwy 12 from the bridge. Hopes that helps. Did not even know that ramp was their till the other day.

Just to clarify...you mean Fort Randall Dam?

If your thinking about below Gavins Point ... they were releasing 65,000 cfs today.

Hope you can fish strong very fast current .... better off heading to Riverside park and the new bridge. There is some good structure there and current edges that should produce some fish.

I was on the lake this past weekend. Smallmouth were biting well, walleyes somewhat slower. I also caught really nice blugills and crappies. Great weather Saturday and Sunday. This was along the dam.

We fished the south shore area all week end. We averaged 1 big fish a day with a limit @3 men. Trolling Wally divers on the deep break just before the current starts. Tried west when the wind subsided and the North shore. Nothing but dinks and drum. Boy scout to midway was the best for drum and cat. collinies were dead Hard to fish there in the wind. Lots and lots of trash in the water. Inlands of weeds and cat tails moving into the lake from big lake and the bottoms around running water.

So was your best luck from weigon area or miller creek?

We did fish around weigon marina and west to the flats past miller could not get a good troll going . With all the bull rushes and cat tails floating in the water . Miles long 100 yards wide. The wind pushing them together. Could not get around them lots of trash in that area just under the water hanging your lines up. Could only use 1 line apiece and still we were still cleaning off 1 line with trash.
It was a lot cleaner down by the dam the debris was a lot less and the water clarity.was better. We could see our Wally diver 2 foot down. All we had to do was find the break out in front of the yellow backho @ the south shore special use area& troll just past the first private cove on the south side keeping on the deep side of the break. We must of been 3 miles east of wiegon. 1/4 mile west of the flood gates. Hopes that helps you.
