We will be going to an area where I will be using a 5000 watt/30amp generator that will use approx. 4.5 gal. every 5 to 6 hours. There is a station within 10 miles of where we will be BUT I will need some thoughts on how to carry fuel. Any thought or ideas would be great.!! Keep in mind 4.5 gals. times 24 hours.?????
I think that a 1000 gallon tanker would work very well.
Otherwise, get about 10 - 6 gallon plastic cans. This should keep you for the week.
I trust that you won't be running the generator - 24 hours a day??

p.s.
In order to save a big hassle - use propane for most of your camping needs. i.e. a propane lantern, a propane stove - etc.
You should really not need to use your generator very much.
If you are going to be using an electric trolling motor - you might need the generator to charge the batteries.
If you get a 25 amp battery charger - you can charge your batteries in only about 2 hours - so you can minimize the use of your generator.
Other than that, there should be little need for the generator.

Buy a Honda EU 2000I it will run 14.5 hours on 1.1 gal. of gas and you don't hear it at 53 decimals.

Let me know where you will be and when you will be there. I want to make sure that I am not anywhere near some one who intends to run a generator 24hrs a day.

Just to let everyone in on a few facts. My generator is a very quiet HONDA. And we will be in a remote PRIVATE area with people ranging from 17 months to low 70's it will be the forth of July weekend and we will be North of Mowbridge AND I SIMPLY NEED TO BE PREPARED. It can be very hot in that area. Now everyone knows.
Don,
You mention heat - thus, I expect that you are going to be using the generator - to run an AC?
If so, I am with you - I have been, where you are talking about being at that time of the year; and an AC certainly helps one, sleep better.
Enjoy the vacation.
Take care

Just my 2 cents.Try to get propane to run thing's,much safer,much cheaper.Of course a generator,set up 50' away,with a quiet model,not too bad,but quite the hassel.When I go-it's R-N-R,all the way.Have a great time,no matter what.I work for a company that uses many generator's,and have seen good one's that use approx 8 gal., in an 8 hr period.They're the large 30 amp model's.Heavy as a pregnant cow.I'll be living like a caveman,er, a, camping that week too.Raystown Lake in PA.

Have you ever thought of getting one of those fuel tanks for the back of your truck, they hold about 100 gallons.

I am very happy to hear that you think that your generator is quiet. I am even more happy to find out that you will be using it on the 4th of July. I make it a point to stay home on holidays and weekends. This is one of the main benifits of being retired. As we use to say, "work is the curse of the drinking class". Good luck and have fun. Noise and crowds go together on summer holidays.;)

Larry L, I can tell by your posts that there are probably a lot of people glad that you stay home. When someone asks for some info, if you have nothing better to do than critisize, why don't you keep it to yourself!!! I have fished with a guy who had a breathing problem and had to keep the generator running to keep the machine going. It was that or quit fishing.

My wife has been on oxygen for eight years. We use a battery operated portable. Get over it.
Now I know why I don't respond to any posts here any more after reading your comments. Who, in their right mind, would want to read responses to their post when they sound like yours? You're the one that needs to "get over it".

Geeez Larry, Don-SD just asked for a little advise.
He stated he would be in a private and remote area. I don't see the big problem with him running a generator.
I run a smaller generator to charge batteries after fishing and always park the boat and generator away from the people in camp so they don't have to listen to it.
Didn't the dinosaurs croak to make gasoline for my 'Burb, boat and generator anyway???? Thought I learned me that in science class.
