I have had no luck hooking up with a reliable tourney partner, and am considering placing an ad. for one.Has anyone had success this route?Would be interested in hearing your ideas re:costs, prize splitting, problems, tips. No clubs in my area,so that's out.How to find someone with similar goals and experience. Two heads are better than one,I think.

Where you from? Which tourny series are you fishing?. I had excellent luck last spring by posting a ad on walleye central for a partner. Got a dedicated experienced partner with a quailty boat in less than two days. Try posting a ad here and see what shakes. Good Luck! "COMA"

remember to discuss expectations for pre-fishing tournaments, and compatibility regarding how serious you guys really are. possibly fish a smaller one-day event together before committing to fish a series of tournaments. The money portion is important but if you find you don't like each other it'll only end terribly. talk on the phone to prospects so you can get a feel for their sense of humor. E-mails don't show the emotions and voice inflections necessary to read someones humor. Good luck in your search.

There are some great ideas above. Compatibility between partners and 50/50 expense splitting is the right way. Consider placing a banner/ad in area bait shops or marinas. Also, tournament directors and organizers may know of non-boaters who are looking for a boating partner. Maybe attend a tourney in your area that your not fishing and find someone who wants to fish more tourneys. Let other people know about your search, word of mouth can help in these situations. Finally, do these tourneys have a web site? If so, search it out as some tourney's have a spot to advertise for partners wanted. Good Luck. Walleye Mike
