Just have to brag a bit, folks!

I have been chasing the elusive 10 pound mark for about 15 years now, and have only made it to 9 so far. I took my 3 kids out fishing this weekend, and my 11 year old daughter and my 6 year old son BOTH caught matching 10 1/2 pound 30 inch long walleyes within half an hour of each other! As an added bonus, she caught hers on an ultralight rig with just 4 pound test! Dad is still waiting for his turn, but at least he had the pleasure of netting, photographing, and releasing both of them. Hopefully that won't be as close as I get to catching my own! My 4 year old son had to be content with (just) a 5 pounder. Hopefully he gets his turn too someday.

Take a kid fishing folks...they'll never forget it, and either will you!

Take care, eh!

If your kids are like mine, it's good they both caught one so the other didn't feel left out. I'm sure you'd prefer they catch the bigger fish anyway.

While you're at it, check their configurations. If casting (not trolling), most kids reels have low retrieve ratios so that their retrieve is much slower than an adult's with a high-end reel. Slowing down your presentation might make the difference for you.

Good luck!!

No such luck Gunga Din! We were doing a wind drift, so can't even fault my retrieve this time...

Take care,

Jim

Jim, you was a very good guide, or they wouldnt have got there, or used the right things, look at it like that, and as was stated, it will really give them more incentive too, as well as you to try for a bigger one now, good luck and good fishin.
