Are they any good? Compared to Okuma or Diawa?

I have both Cabelas and Diawa reels, but I like the Diawa reels better. They seem smoother and better built. Just what I prefer.
There have numerous posts here over the past year, with mixed feelings on these reels. There are those who have had absolutely no problems, and those who have encounted problems(mainly displays going out) .
I am one of the ones who had problems. I called Cabelas to find out if replacement parts are available to repair these reels and was told no, since they are imported. Had there been replacement parts I probably would have kept them, because I liked their size, smoothness, and general feel.
I returned mine to Cabelas and purchased Diawa 27's (from Cabelas)
Hope this is helpfull.

I have 2 of Cabela's electronic line counter's. Both are replacements. One would not turn off, the display was stuck 100ft. The other would not turn on. I fish with a charter captain who is on Cabela's advisory staff. They had a problem with moisture getting into the displays. They used to have a nylon gear in them which has been upgraded to brass. The last batch he tested had anti-reverse problems. Cabela's is good about taking care of their problems but for a $100.00 reel...I also have 3 of D-10s, 2 of the D-20s, and 1 D-30. They have worked great. I also have some Daiwa 47lc's. They work great too. If I were buying more reels for walleye, I would buy D-10s.

Howdy, Jimmy
I purchased one of ther Okuma Magda Pro 20 DX line counters this spring and have had an opportunity to play with it some. For the $$, I think it is a decent reel, but it does have some features I don't particularily care for. You can not engage the reel by turning the handle, you must flip the switch to disengage the free spool. Also, the clicker control, when off, sits above the side housing, and it is fairly easy to knock it down into the clicker mode (I tend to "palm" the reel on the left side) - kind of backwards if you ask me. I will be adding some more line counters to my collection, and the rest WILL be 27LCs
Good luck in your choice

Bought two of the LCD digital Cabelas this spring. First fish on each and the anti reverse went out. Not much fun fighting 12# chinook and 9# steelhead in that situation. Both went back.
I do like the inline depthmaster rods though.

I have had a pair of the depthmasters since they came out and I must be lucky because I have had no problems and love the reels. I also have Diawas and I prefer the Depthmasters
