Heading to Port Washington, WI area salmon fishing 8/8/2 thru 8/11/2. My first trip to this area, looking for some affordable lodging. Just my and a buddy, doesn't need to be fancy, anybody familiar with this area and any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance.

Chad:

Born and raised about 10 minutes from the harbor there. There is a Best Western (262-284-9461)adjacent to the launch that is a good place to go. The fishing is starting to get very good out there. If you need any other info, let me know. I can get you an up to date report as the time gets closer. Good Luck!

Highly recommend the Driftwood. We stay there every year in the fall. It is a 'Mom and Pop' operation and they go out of their way to accomodate fisherman. They have even put us on a few new spots over the years.

The Driftwood? Is it nicer than it used to be? It always used to be known as a place for "nooners". :-) I have driven by, but never stopped.

It has been getting nicer each year we go. Now have fridges and micrwaves in the rooms. Seems to be a lot of fisherman there whenever we have stayed. We were there this spring during the local prom and the owners made it sound like they had no interest in renting to partiers. The couple that owns the place are great althought they are so chatty you have a hard time getting out of the office.

To be honest - it's my favorite place to stay in the area. We stay at the Driftwood even when we fish the Milwaukee area.

Could be its a good place for a 'nooner' though. Never had the opportunity!
