Am I the only one that feels that hunting shows are getting too dramatic with the music and commentating and such? I remember when a show was relaxing to watch, now I have to take a Valium after to calm down.
Drury Hunting shows are Team this and Team that against each other and all kinds of rediculas things. I have not purchased and will not purchase another video from them again, its too commercialized and getting away from "just hunting". Advertising for sponsors is one thing but can we please get on with the hunt?
I go hunting to hear the quiet. I want to hear the foot steps of the deer approaching, squirrels, birds, not AC/DC and Thunderstruck music blasting. I don't know about you but if I played music while hunting I don't think I would see much, maybe they hunt deaf deer.:cookoo: This may explain how the "hunters" get away with talking so much in the stand with a deer 10 feet away.
Please! Can someone get back to just hunting and leave the drama for the reality shows? I know a hunting show will be boring without all the cra$ but maybe you could add more technique and info about hunting instead of music and weird camera angles going up and down and in and out. Now theres an idea.
O.K. i'm done ranting..........................
Awe come on. I think my favorite part is all the whispering (cause you have to be quiet) after that big .300 Win Mag puts a grapefruit sized hole in the chest cavity. :horsepoop:
And who or what the heck is Charlie Moore on Versus??? Are these sponsors even paying attentuion to who they sponsor??

I whole-heartedly agree. I like the simple more natural hunting and fishing shows that has beautiful sounds of nature as background music. There are still quite a few that do that. There are so many shows now competing for viewers that they think they need to create some sort of an appeal to find their own niche. Thank goodness we can turn the channel and have many choices. Are you old enough to remember when we had three channels, ha ha.
I agree also, I stopped watching hunting shows. I don't care for most of them.
I enjoy watching fishing shows.

I have to agree, far too much heavy metal music and theatrics. I was tuning in to learn something, but all I see are guys patting themselves on the back when they shoot game on a ranch somewhere that is feeding the wildstock. Give me a break. The offer nothing about the rig they are using, or explaining the tactics they use, or anything of value to the watcher. Just another dead deer, turkey, pheasant to what have you. I would much rather watch some local guy who is hunting locally describing why he does what he does, the planning he did, the equipment he is using. I could also give a rip about the latest country music star who has taken up hunting. If the advertisers had any sense they would find this out that the public is turning off to the current BS of sports shows.

Do what I did. Quit watching them. I think it was two or three years ago. One day I realized they were having a negative impact on my hunting/fishing outlook. My fishing and hunting drive picked right back up.
Nice to know alot of you guys are in the same "boat" with me. I love the idea of a guy just hunting and telling the whole story like it REALLY happens.
Sponsors should be told that they are waisting their money on these shows (and maybe certain individuals too).
If I only new all I had to do is act like a moron on TV (or in a boat), maybe I could have big sponsors too.:banghead:

I totally agree. Seems like every time I go to check one out a guy is being dropped off in a UTV alongside an elevated "shed" and they whisper quietly a short bit and then low and behold about 30 deer show up. Imagine that, someone turned on the feeders. About this time the background music starts and you'd swear if you closed your eyes it's from a porn movie. Here's your clue duf's THAT'S NOT HUNTING. I'd much rather see a guy do it the right way and not kill a thing than watch that stupid stuff.

Cant stand the drurys or basically anyone on tv that hunts. Its a joke and they are giving all hunters a bad image by sitting in hunting "houses" and screamin to rock music after they make a 63 yd shot with a bow at a huge deer.....:lame:

Agreed. I have been a life long hunter and there is not one hunting show I can stomach to watch. 51 years of hunting for almost everything the North American continent has. Waterfowl, upland birds, big game, small game and predators.
These canned hunts are supposed to be educational entertainment? Not for me!
Most are in very poor taste and the makers must assume we are all idiots.
Fishing shows are better, but still most could be called, The Bob and I show.

I was raised hunting and fishing. We did it because we needed food. Not because we wanted a set of antlers for our wall. Antlers don't taste good or fill your belly. Give me a nice fat doe that is a few years old. Keep the freaky big antlers and such. I hunt at the local grocery store now, mostly because I don't have the time to hunt. I make time to fish. I'm not crazy yet.

Well another thing the hunting shows and all the commercials have been able to do is take away all the farmland hunting that I used to enjoy when I was a Kid. If you can't lease property now you can't hunt. All the farms I used to hunt back in the 50s and 60s are now gone. And most of todays kids think you can just go out and sit in a nice insulated blind and shoot the biggest whitetail that will turn broadside and stop when you get the right camera angle. I agree that a great injustice has been done to all outdoor sports in the name of a dollar. I am now an old man but I still go back in on public land a couple of miles every season and find the solitude and the game I remember as a kid. Still fill my tickets every year by still hunting in the rain or snow or whatever the day gives me. My dad taught me to hunt this way, he was 87 when he made his last hunt with me and ya know what, he killed a deer that year, the same way he taught me.
Nuff said, I'm done. Thanks.

Back away from the remote control and get off your can! Then you won't find yourself bored, disgusted, frustrated, etc, LOL! There's always reels needing new line, new spinner combo's that need tying, guns to be cleaned, WC surfing, jigs to be painted, honey do lists and the list goes on....
If there's one way to have a better life and be more sane in your own brain, SHUT THE TV OFF!
Give it a try, you might be surprised how well you sleep and how it builds on itself. Today's television does almost NOTHING to better inner goingson in peoples heads. You don't have to look too far to witness this...... Read the headlines of any major news site. U N F R I C K I N G real!!!!! Talk about proliferation of WHACK jobs??? WT?
Ok, off the soapbox..... chillin'
