Hopefully these fires can be brought under control soon. Scary stuff, I hope all's well with our Colorado angling brothers and sisters.

I am in Nags Head on Cape hatteras this week on vacation. I hadn't watched the news for about three days and couldn't believe my eye's last night when I saw the size of that fire! I knew it was going to be a brutal summer this year, but it is staring really early.

It has not been a fun year here in Colorado. This is the second year where we have not gotten our normal rain fall. The lakes are dropping fast and everything is drying up. City water use restrictions went into effect yesterday. They say it is cyclical and we will come out of it but in the mean time it bites.

Was fishing Chatfield on Monday and had ash and burned up leaves falling on me. With all the smoke in the air blocking the sun, the walleyes were pretty active though.

Wishin' for rain in the 303.

where were you getting into teh eyes at chatfield?

Fingers crossed that the dumb government will fish its head out of its rear and let me be a volunteer fire fighter and make a difference with these fires. oh well, like I said fingers crossed. Be smart and be safe about what you do with your fires and cigarettes.

I'm also trying to find where I read about the forest fire and drought/flood cycle link.

I'm not advocating burning down all the forests, I just think we need to have a little bit of all of it to balance out the ecosystem.

In 10 years the folks that live where Hayman swept through will have their houses back and be living in some of the most lush mountain property within a short drive from Denver Metro. In 20 years it will be very sought after property.
