Hey Jere,
River walleye can be a lot of fun. The areas that you want to look for, are areas with less current then the rest of the river, like inside turns, or points in the channel edge. The walleye will get behind these facing upstream, and wait for food to wash down to them. Most presentations work in rivers, a good start would be using a jig and leech, or a live bait rig with about a 3 foot snell. The second one would be better for locating the fish, and the jig would be best once you have found them.
If the river gets shallow in the summer a couple things can happen. One of them is if it is a relativly shallow river (max depth 15-20 feet) the walleye will have no choice but to head to the deepest parts of the river, and lay in the channel edge. Also, if they have access to a nearbye lake, they will head there for the shallow water period.
This is only a starting point.
GOOD LUCK!
