I'm about to purchase my first set of boards. Not sure which ones are best. Was leaning towards the Offsure boards with the flags. Are there better ones out there.

Offshore makes a great planer board. Another great product is Church Tackle's Mr. Walleye- Gary Roach boards. I personally use Offshore. They have different features that make my presentation better. You can add Tattle tale flags for detection of small fish or weeds. The flags make them easier to watch in rough water. You can link to their Web Site from the mainpage here. I know you'll like these and be able to use them for a lot of years. Good Luck

OffShore, Wille, and Church make the most popular boards available. All of them work fine. It is a matter of preference when you pick one over another. I like all these boards and think the more important item to think about is the release on these boards. If at all possible you should try to go out with someone and try the different boards and see which ones YOU like the best. It might depend on where you fish and what you intend to pull behind them which ones you like the best. Your method of fishing and choice of line for trolling should be taken in to account. You need better releases for using Fireline or Power Pro. The Superlines will slip through most of the OffShore releases. Take a knowledgeable friend with you or get their help before you go to better understand what your options are. Then spend your money wisely and get what will work for you.

I have purchased both Off Shore and the Church boards. The tattle flags certainly makes it easier to detect a bite with the Off Shore boards. On the other, I think the Church boards are easier to use for a beginner - boards don't fall off the super lines, take them out of the box and use them - don't have to add flags, upgrade releases, etc. Now if they only made boards with Church releases and pins with Off Shore tattle flags! Like the earlier posts say, both have advantages and you should fish with people who use both. PS I sold my Off Shore and bought more Church boards, my preference.
