Difference in 2 cycle oil????

I've been wondering: is there a difference between the motor mfg's oil and the stuff like Havoline? Last I checked OMC (or BMC as the case may be) wasn't in the oil business. I'm not talking about the Opti, Ficht or synthetics here, just the regular stuff. I'm running a carb 200 Johnson that drinks oil like a southern bassfisherman drinks Budweiser and I'd rather not pay $21/gal when I can get Havoline for $17/ 2-1/2 gal.

your not going to hurt the motor by going to another brand, it dosn,t have to be omc or the other manufacture,s - as long as the mix is right you,ll be fine with the cheaper stuff, i use amsoil now but before i started with amsoil i used a no name off brand oil and had no problems besides a little smoke.

Just make sure has TCW3 stamped on the package. If it has it, you should be fine.
