I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP A HUNTING AND FISHING JOURNAL TO DOCUMENT ALL OF MY OUTDOOR OUTINGS. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANY GOOD GENERIC PUBLISHED JOURNALS AVAILABLE OUT THERE? I WANT TO DOCUMENT DATE,SPECIES,LOCATION,COND., TEMP, MOON, BARAMETER, METHOD, PARTNERS, NOTES,ETC. IF NOT, WHAT KINDS OF THINGS DO YOU KEEP IN YOUR JOURNAL?

Gobucky, I know you can get journals at Cabelas. I have one for both hunting and fishing and there nice to look back on. Good luck.

I know there are some freeware versions for palm pilots. Do an internet search for Fishing Journal.

Gobucky,

I wish I had thought about doing that 30 years ago. I have pictures, of course, and some targets shot at 50, 100, 200 yard intervals that show some very tight groups ... but all the specific memories are gone. So are some of the people.

Too bad.

A friend of mine now uses a laptop PC and records his "diary" at the end of each outdoor day. He uses a software package ... I don't know where he got it nor the name of the package ... but it asks for specifics like locations, weather conditions, time of day, unusual conditions, water temperature and depth at the location (assuming one is fishing), particular events to be remembered, and general comments about the day. When I saw what he had stored on there I realized it can be used for analysis of fishing a body of water as well as bringing back memories.

Neat idea.

But the Cabela's book should work well too.
