I am finally going to get to the big lake this weekend and I plan on pulling some blades. Does anyone have any suggestions on blade and bead colors?

Thanks and don't forget you can't catch fish unless your line is wet!!

Some friends and I were there this past Saturday. I was still using a plain lindy rig, but one guy was using a spinner and caught just as many as the rest of us. Hammered gold and/or chartruse. I think you could throw an old boot and catch one.LOL

Skeeter2,
Blue is a hot color on Mille Lacs but don't rule out Gold, especially if there is a bug hatch. I prefer the large Mack's Smile Blades. They can be trolled much slower than conventional metal blades. Match your beads up with your blade colors, but don't be afraid to experiment. The flats should be pretty hot.
Good Luck,
Rodney

i too like the smile blades. As far as beads go, chartreuse and red or pink with a couple of blue mixed in has been good. i find that mixing up the colors of beads works better than to have a uniform ,every other bead for a different color, type arrangement.......

Skeeter2,

I would go along with the using a boot with a hook stuck in it to catch Mille lacs walleyes right now, but you might have more success with conventional spinner rigs. A buddy and I caught 52 on Saturday on spinners and crawlers in 6 hours of fishing. I used a hammered silver spoon on my rigs and tried several other combos, but the silver worked best and has historically worked best for me over the years. Stop at Tuts on the north end of the lake in Garrison and buy some Gopher tackle pre tied rigs with 12 foot snells. We ran out of crawlers and ended up using leeches which also worked.

Seems like I'm haveing to catch about 26 fish for every keeper, but some people are doing a little better than that. Good luck and have fun. Now I'll shut up and fish!
