Does anyone trailer their boat with the splash guards, (such as wave wackers) still attached to the transom? Can you do it at highway speeds without damage?
Thanks
Zinger
I do. Went from northern Illinois to Mille Lacs at about 80 to 85 mph (and back home again) with no ill effects to the splash guards - I have Whitecaps.

Years back on my first boat I used to take them off . The dang things ended up getting so scratched from taking them on and off it hardly seemed worth it . Now they stay on all the time without any trouble.
I've done it on 2 hour or less trips, but take them off on longer trips. Seems like the gas gage goes down a lot quicker with them on, but haven't check the mpg difference, but there's got to be a lot of extra air resistance there.
I drag my boat all over the countryside with mine on. The only time I take them off is to work in that area, or to clean them.

I leave mine on while trailering. Wavewackers are sturdy and can definitely handle it, not sure about other brands.

Hey There,
Just leave them on and pick up a boat cover, that way everything in your rig is safe.
