Hey all,
I have a TC Omega with open sights and I am currently thinking about putting a scope on top. So many manufactures and choices.
I am thinking about Nikon Omega 1.65-5x36 or a Bushnell trophy 2-7x36 doa 200.
Anyone have any other good choices?
Thanks

My son and I both have Omegas. I have a Bushnell Trophy 2x7. My son has a Cabelas brand of the same power. Both of us like them and have had no issues with either. Both scopes you mention are good choices. We hunt the hardwoods ridges of Indiana and rarely turn the magnification above 2x. Good luck.

How do you like the Cabela optics? I read good and bad about them. Do you know what company makes them?
Thanks

Their Euro line is made by Meopta. I only know this because I read it on 24 Hour Campfire last week.

My son has two of them that I have bought for him. The one on his Omega and another on his 870 slug gun. The are priced resonable and seem to be similar quality as the Bushnell Trophy series, Higher end Simmons or the lower end Nikons. I do not know who makes them but I would assume it is one of the Japenees optic Companies.

Leupold Rifleman on my omega. love the clarity of the scope. holds up to the thumping from a 50 cal and only paid 130 bucks for it.
may be a little bit too much scope but i can't complain about seeing an animal too well at 150 yards

Do you have the QDMA 3-9 or the 2-7 with the standard reticles?
Thanks

The Nikon Omega is tough to beat but there's a lot of good scopes in that price rang that'll work well. Leuplod, Bushnell, Vortex, all have offerings in that price range that are as good as or better than the Nikon. I'd just shop around until you see a good deal on one of the ones that will work for you. There's always a sale somewhere on the web where you can save yourself some serious cash on optics. Now if I could just get SD to let me use a scope on my muzzleloader.....

bucont, my scope is a rifleman with the P/N56160 in a 3x9x40 power in a matte finish. i forget what they call the reticles on this scope, but its the thinner lines in the center section. i had it on my .243 but wanted a bigger power scope on that for shooting varmints so i did some trading.
brotsky, you can scope your muzzle loader and use it for high power hunting, which is what i do. then either remove the scope or have a second rifle, like myself, to use for muzzy season.
i personally love how south dakota has banned scopes for black powder season. it keeps the challenge of using a black powder gun to harvest an animal like the white tail. i just wish that they would open black powder season before rifle season. but from every meeting and conversation i have ever had with a state parks/conservation official, they claim that black powder season is in place to pretty much keep the doe population in check and to "thin the herd" to put it in simple terms
