View Full Version : overcoming fear in the woods

I started deer hunting 3 years ago and I love it. But, I cant get over my fear of being alone in the dark in the woods when I split off from the group and head for my stand in the morning when it is still dark. This has restricted me to hunting spots fairly close to the logging trail we walk down as a group.

This fall I have a spot that I scouted during the day that I very much want to hunt. But, it involves walking through the woods about 2/3 of a mile by myself in the dark.

Is there anyone else out there that has the same fear and what advice would you give me for getting over it. Not to sound like a coward but I am fairly new to navigating the forest alone in the dark and it makes me very uneasy. What should I be thinking about or doing to put my mind at ease.

Thanks in advance.
