Raytheon is the best of the four I've owned.

your marine radio is one of the most important tools on a big water boat it helps you find fish and get you out of trouble if you have a problem on the water buy the most expensive one you can afford and take it to a reputable dealer and get it tweaked to put out as much power that is legal also get it matched to the antenna that you are using i have had very good luck with icom radios they work year after year. they are not the cheapest but they have never let me down i hope this helps you in your decision have a safe fishing season Captain Dan Kelly Buckets Fishing Charters Erie Pa.

1. Ratheo (Apelco)
2. Shakespeare
3. Standard Communications

I understand Garmin has a VHF radio now also, but I have no experience with them. I know someone with a Humminbird radio, they have no complaints about them. But I would absolutely stay away from Uniden. That is if you want the unit to last longer then three years, that is about the average...

I would place Shadelspeare a very close second

Go to any catalog/magazine (Cabela's, West Marine, etc.) that sells multiple brands and they will have comparison charts that may help you, it always has me.
