Need to find a hotel/motel room in either Escanaba or Gladstone for tourney week. Just want a place that is clean and fishermen friendly. I like to be able to back my boat up to my room door. Outside electric is a plus.

Any suggestions? I have a long list of places from the chamber of commerce web site but don't know where to start.

Thanks in advance.

The Terrace is very nice. If you request a roadside room on the ground level, you can back your boat right up to your room and there is exterior electrical hook-ups. They have a very nice inside fish cleaning area, also have pool and such. Good Luck at the MWC!

Most of the motels are very good. Terrace bay, Sleepy Hollow, Bay View, Norway Pines, Bombay are all good choices. Most of them cater to fisherman. I like the Bay View. Dan, the owner, fishes alot so you can get info from him.

I second the response on Bayview. Ellen, Dan's wife sure makes good chocolate chip cookies for all here guests.

We have spent the last three Walleye openers at Lindberg's Resort. They have cabins right on the water with dock space. They are located right behind the Bayshore Motel/Bait Shop which is directly beside the Kipling DNR boat launch. It couldn't be handier. Phone number 906 428 4313. Good Luck. Jigger

We stay at the Terrace Bay every year. Very reasonable, nice quality rooms. Extremely "fishermen-friendly", including an indoor fish cleaning facility.(not that you'll need that now) Their web adress is www.terracebay.com. I know you will be satisfied, I would reccomend it to anyone. Hope this helps.

A strong second here for Lindberg's Cove. The cabins are very clean and well kept up inside. You can launch your boat right at the resort if the inside second dock is clear. You can also charge your boat batteries at night. Awfully nice to be able to leave your boat in the water. John and Jeanne, who own the place, and wonderful and very accomodating. I have been going there for 16 years and it is like a second home for me. If the tournament is launching out of Gladstone, this would be a choice spot as Gladstone Harbor would only be a quick 3-5 minute boat ride, and hey, no having to wait at the ramp.

Lindbergs is right next door to Bayshore Tackle Shop. Bayshore Tackle is very well stocked for the walleye angler. They also have very fine crawlers and other bait. In fact, if Lindbergs is full, Bayshore would be another option. I am impressed with how much the girls have fixed up the resort. The also have docking, but you will need to bring a longer extension cord for charging your batteries at night.

Have fun and good luck with the MWC.
