I know this subject has been discussed before but I can't find it on the archives. I just got an x15 and am in the process of setting it up. Can the GPS readings such as speed, distance traveled, time to destination etc. be overlayed on the sonar screen or do you have to have the speed wheel to get these. I know with the old 350A the GPS info could be overlayed on the sonar. Thanks for the help and any other hints you can give me on this unit.
First, you must update the software to at least version 2.2 Then go into the menu and select data overlay to customize. You can do this for the full map, full sonar and map/sonar split screen displays, each one has it's own settings, so doing one won't make it display on all. Good luck.
Hugh: JLB is right on. The only thing I would add, don't bother with the 2.3 update Lowrance has on the web, as it only adds a few things mostly for the over the road mapping. I have the X15 and added a 68 meg chip, and now have all of the downloaded areas of the midwest US and still have plenty more room. I think the unit is the best on the market. Several of my friends also think the same. Good LUCK NAVIGATING....Kaz
