Thinking of buying a pinpoint graph. wondering if it will mark fish in less than 10 ft of water and also mantain a bottom reading at high speeds 55 to 65 mph. Any additional comments on the unit would be helpfull

Last year I purchased both a PinPoint trolling motor & graph, and I would say without any reservation that the graph is by far the best graph I,ve ever owned. Although I,m still struggling with the motor, the graph is very dependable and will do both the things you are looking for. It makes my Lowrance look pretty sad in comparison.

The Pinpoint does the best job I've seen of marking bottom/contour/fish in shallow water. I get reading as low as 3.5'--haven't tried shallower. However, your cone diameter is pretty small at that depth. And speaking of cone diameter, you can turn on a window that shows cone diameter based on depth. Very useful.

And if you're got the motor and a wide-screen graph on the bow, you can split the screen in three windows with each showing the view of a different transducer, giving you a much wider view of the bottom below and angled down and to the sides.

As for high-speed readings, I think it's about the best unit you can buy for these. Supposedly you can mark contour at speeds up to 70 mph. I read somewhere (in the Pinpoint literature?) that with most graphs like Lowrance X-85, at a given speed you're getting one pixel per several feet, and with the Pinpoint it puts up one pixel per inch--at the same speed. I'm sure someone here can quote the specifics.

For speed, shallow water, and most other applications I don't think you can find a finer graph.

I agree whole heartedly with the other posts. If you would like to see examples of what to expect go to #####://www.thewalleyezone.com and click on Cool Stuff. The #3 Pinpoint view is a direct down load (In-Sync)from my 7800 and is in less than 10' of water. It shows a dandy eye on a sand flat and did we ever have a day to remember! 4 over 30" Hope this helps,
Rich

The flashchart feature with it's 60 pixels per second will track botom for you in an almost real time fashion, much like a flasher. It works great as do the other features of what I feel is the best sonar unit out there.
I also like the fact that the units are up-gradable as new features become available. You'll never buy another unit.
GO PINPOINT!
