If someone wanted to spool a Diawa LC for pulling boards what would be the best line to use? Would the new sensation line be one to consider? Jim

I have 6 Diawa SG27LC I use for trolling. I have 10 lb Berkley XT on all these reels. I pull buttom bouncers or cranks with the same line. Precision Trolling book is all based on 10 lb mono. This setup gives me a lot of options and seems to work OK.

I would use 14lb. fireline. I have that on my trolling reels and wouldn't use anything else. Just remember to change your hooks and keep your drag loose! Good luck!

Go with the sensation line you can use 12 LB. It is the same dia. as 10 LB XT!

I wouldn't use the sensation line. I just took the 8lb test stuff off of my reel. I bought it new and the first outing I seemed to loose everything. The knot strength just wasn't there. I lost three rattle traps due to this stuff and finally swapped out spools. I know there is a wiper, or two, in North Sterling Reservoir with my rattle traps hanging out of it's mouth!.

I agree with andy, I used 8 lb sensation this weekend for casting on my spinning gear and I was not at all impressed. It may work better for trolling, but I would stick with XT if your gonna use mono.

Sorry guys, but I have to disagree. I have been using 12 pound Sensation since the season began. It was flwless at Erie this spring handling fish up to 12 pounds with no problem. At bago last week it worked equally as well. The 12 pound is the same diameter as 10 XT so the "bible" still works. I would have every confidence in Sensation.

First of all I want to thank all of you. When I spooled my sg27lcw I put 12# sensation on it because it was the right dia. and was said to have low streach. This is my first year with boards and wanted to know if I made a big mistack with the line. It seems I did not. Again I want to thank you all. I feel more confident now.-- eyeguy4life--- Jim in Ankeny , Iowa

What kind of knot are you using? I couldn't believe how weak the knot strength is with the 8lb line, (using a clinch knot). I could actually break the line off of my lure with my bare hands. Should be able to do that without cutting up the ol' hands!

I may be wrong but I use a palamer knot. I think it is the best one for tieing on cross latch snaps. I retie it about every few days on the water depending on hits and down here that don't happen very much. Jim -- In Ankeny Iowa
