I was told that you have to be going at least 1.2 mph for a Magellan 315 gps to track is that true. Is there a gps that will track at .1 mph. Thank you.

I have a 300 Megellan that I use all the time on Lake Erie. It has no bells,or whistles, but is accurate. I have noticed that when I'm trolling around 1.5 mph. It doesn't track very well. If you speed up to 2.5 and above, it's fine.

FYI - try maxing out update rate and maybe turn position pinning off. Unit may not measure low speeds at default settings. Based on my experience, expecting 0.1 mph accuracy may be unrealistic.

I am able to guess my low speeds based on selecting the average of what's displayed. Ok down to .8, never troll slower. I've had 5 different gps units (Eagle and Lowrance)and they all measured low speeds about the same.

Good Luck,
jc

Terry,

My Magellan 310 doesn't track well below 2 mph. It does hold coordinants but does not tell me which way to go. I suspect as the $$$$$ goes up so does the quality.
