Have a Cabelas PWT Pro Tournament Rod made by Pinacle that the rod tip spins on the rod blank. Tip has not yet come off the rod. What is the best glue or repair for this.
THANKS
Many rod builders use 5 min epoxy to put on tips.
Another option would be a glue stick made by Flex Coat that you heat and apply. It is available from most any catalog with rod building supplies.
It is quite likely that the tip was glued on, with heat melt adhesive; as the other post suggested. This is a great glue, that I use all the time for rod tips.
If it is a heat melt glue; it is quite likely that there is still glue in the tip. Take a gas stove - no smoke or soot - and heat the tip a bit - line up the tip and let cool. See if it still spins. If this fixed the tip, there was enough heat melt adhesive to reglue the tip.
Otherwise, just pick up some flex coat glue and glue it on.
The other option, is to use 5 minute epoxy. I really don't like to use 5 minute epoxy, because if there is ever a problem with your rod - and you need to take the tip off to work on the rod - it is much easier with heat melt glue.
take care

I had a Loomis rod that did the same thing and the Loomis factory tech. said to use super glue. I did and it worked fine.

Emphasis on little bit of heat. Doesn't take much. Too little won't hurt anything, too much will. Bic lighter works well too, use a glove or cloth to handle tip until cool.
Hot melt glue sticks are avail in archery supply sections of stores or in kits w/replacement tips in fishing suppies (maybe packaged solo there too). If the tip is misaligned a little, reheat and correct.
Good Luck,

I personally hate the holt melt stuff. I've had too many rod tips shift when the sun warms them too much and they get under a good load. Sounds like that's how it's on there now. Why do it again? I always use 5 min epoxy. You can still get them to come off with heat. but more than what the sun is going to give you. I use an alcohol lamp for my heat source.
Better to have and not need than to need and not have!

Would not use super glue or any epoxy. If the tip breaks you won't be able to get it off. Stick with the hot glue types.

Epoxy and a new stainless chrome fly tip. 5 minute fix of alife time, and with braids you won't look back. Footings are a pain with braids. Take a small ring stainless fly tip put your boots on and walk on it on carpet or vinyl you will notice just how little "stuff" you can do to it. $1.29 not counting the glue. They handle mono well also but ceramic does better with that type of line.

However, if the rod tip breaks, you will more than likely need a different sized tip. .02

Thanks all. Tried the Bic Lighter thing. Seems to be holding, now back to Walleye Fishin.
