I'm considering buying the Bass Pro XPS onboard charger and was wondering if Guest or Dual Pro or someone else made them? Anyone have any experience with them?
I'm a weekend angler who isn't concerned with recovery time. I have a 12 volt system currently but will probably upgrade to a 24 volt in the next two years.
Will a 2 bank 8 amp charger take care of the charge in say a 10 hour time frame? For 95% of use I will have days to charge if I want, but for the 2 weeks out of the year, I may need a turn around time of
8-10 hours and want to know if this will work or not?
I know 4 amps per bank isn't much, but for me I think it could work. I guess for $59.00 at Bass Pro I was hoping this would do the trick.
Thanks,

I have a dual pro 5 amp per bank charger. When the battery is very low, such as after a FULL day of fishing and using the trolling motor, it will not recharge fully in 8-10 hours. I'm like you. Most of the time this is fine, except on vacations or days when you are fishing two days in a row. In those cases, I bring along my old external 10 amp charger and use that. Not as convienant, but saved a chunk of money.

mbrandt,
After a full day of fishing, how long does it take to re-charge? I was thinking it should be done in say 15 hours at the most shouldn't it? Thanks for your input. The 2 bank 8 amp charger from Bass Pro is only $59.99 so I guess that is what drew me to it.

I guess it really depends on how low the battery gets. I have seen it take 24 or more. This is a Dual Pro charger and not the BPS charger and has 5 amps per bank. There are temperature sensors on this charger which effect the charging time if I'm not mistaken. Not sure if the BPS charger works the same way or not. The charging time varies. The time I gave is when the charger tells me it is done. Again, I do beleive that as it gets close to full charge, it is just a trickle. So maybe these times are not alot to worry about.
