a good friend of mine is looking at the stoeger and it comes in a 26" and 28" barrel length in the over under 20 gauge gun....any info on any significant differences between these two barrels is appreciated...they both have screw in chokes....and the wt differences is 6.8lbs vs 6.9 lbs.....thanks for your input...steve

Get the longer barrel. It will swing smoother. I have a 12 gauge Beretta with 26" barrels, and it doesn't help with my follow through.

Stogers did have a trigger issue at one time not sure if it has been corrected. Most had to have springs replaced..

Longer barrels have a slight advantage in more accurate sighting for shots at greater distances. Shorter barrels are better for close in work over dogs and through the woods AKA fast and furious snap shooting.

Your friend needs to shoulder both lengths. He will be the one shooting this gun. His body frame and stature may be such that a 26good will sight ans swing better or it could be the 28. But he is the one that needs to make that decision after pulling up both guns.
