Would you dipsey guys consider the shimano tdr 1903 m/h 9ft. downrigger rod a good choice for pulling #1 dipseys?
One eye,
The Shimano TDR series rods are very well accepted, and I'd say there are probabaly more Shimano Dipsy rods in use on Erie than any other. The 9' rod you're talking about is 1 of the 2 most common. The other is the 8' med. heavy action. And there is an 8'-6" as well. (check out shimano fishing). Good luck.

I have used them for a few years on Erie with dipseys. I also have 2 rigged with leadcore. I have never had a problem & will continue to use & buy them.

Thank you for the responses to my question, I appreciate the fact that a person can count on people with the background and experience such as ETT to take the time and share some of their knowledge with others.
I use Daiwa Heartland rods and like them alot
8'6" medium and also the 8'6" dipsey rod
only $30.00 at Dicks sporting goods

I have the Diawa 8'6 and the TDR's 8'6 Medium action . Both work equally well and have had NO problems. Both are about the same price. 29.99 at Cabela's. If your in the PT.Clinton /Marblehead area Hi-Way Biats has them for that price also. It doesn't take a fancy rod to run Dipseys for eye's. Don't get caught up in the hype.

Are you sure I don't need a Loomis to catch Walleyes with Dipsey's? How can this be possible? St. Croix, Fenwick AV, Series One,--ALL not necessary? You have surely angered the "Fishing Gods" and will soon be struck by Lightning. This is utter Blasphemy!
(okay- I'll shut up and fish)
