Mueller 12-18-2011, 07:10 AM All I can say is I've had a number of Tikkas and in my opinion they are by far the best dollar for dollar value on the gun market. The ones I've had were super smooth and shot with accuracy like a target rifle. Had a 308. 22-250 and 7mm-08. They are made by SAKO and are dressed down and are less expensive.
Just my 2 cents worth

WALLEYE651 12-18-2011, 08:01 AM for whatever reason i could never get excited about a 30-06 i own one but never use it i have a .270 wsm that i use a lot very accurate very good groups at 150 yds. and beyond another good caliber is 7mm-08 good luck on whatever you choose

I personally don't like blued barrels for all weather hunting - then the Burris set up is not my idea of above average.
Kimber montana in .308. Grey kevlar stock and stainless. One box of shells thru it for sight in. Never hunted. It has Kimber mounts and rings(Over $100 alone). $650
JUMP AT IT ! - if you don't, let me know where I can. Seriously, By it and sell it to me for $50.00 over ride.
bigwalleye1 12-18-2011, 08:47 AM While there are gun chat sites that will rant about the caliber advantage for days on end, I'd take a look at your plans for the gun. Truly, for deer hunting, the WSM is overkill. Guys were killing deer with 30-30 for years before short mags came along, and the deer are no tougher now than they used to be.
That siad, please understand I'm NOT extolling a 30-30 as the perfect deer caliber. Of the remaining choices, you don't indicate which calibers some guns are, but of the ones indicated, I'd lean toward the 308. 1st, it's a Kimber. So long as it hasn't had the daylights shot out of it, either it or the Sako are the highest quality guns on the list(not that the others are slouches). 2nd, the 308 is going to lean toward being lighter, since it's a short action. Easier to carry, easier to swing. The 308 can be loaded by hand to 30-06 levels and beyond safely, so even very large game can be taken with it.
I'd want to see 'em, obviously, but I'd consider the Kimber in the 308 and the Sako in the un-named caliber as top choices. Besides, in a real bind, even the gas stations in northern anystate USA are going to sell 06 and 308 shells. 270 wsm, maybe not so much. Good luck with your choice!
Wade B AKA: Ruger2506 12-18-2011, 08:53 AM Based solely off of quality of build Kimber is the best choice, no question.
rbsangler 12-18-2011, 09:03 AM All those prices seem really really fair, if you would like a comparative site check Gun Broker.com.
jarhead 12-18-2011, 10:06 AM The Sako A7 is 30 06.
Thanks
bootstrap 12-18-2011, 05:34 PM my choice would be the Tikka T3 30.06 walnut stock, 500ish.
High Ball 12-24-2011, 06:22 PM I can only say that I am first off a model 70 Winchester man and then it's Ruger. I also do not purchase used rifles, unless I am buying it for the action etc. for a build project.
I want a control round fed magazine, 3 position safety (only real safety on the market today) and the Mauser type action with the big claw extractor. Yes, the Winchester model 70, "The Rifleman's Rifle" for the past 100 years of so. My choice of those listed would be the Kimber rifle!
Sako has always had the slick action, smooth a butter no doubt and accurate. I can not say anything for the Tika as I have never handled or shot one etc. Since your the one who is shelling out the cash, you need to gather up your information and also see which of those rifles feels the best to you when you shoulder the gun. Also check out the trigger pull, does it creep or is it to heavy/light an so on. Good Luck with your choice and may it bring you lots of satisfaction.
