Considering putting one of these on a St.Croix Avid AS60MLF 6' one piece rod. I like to fish alot of 4# and some 6# test line. Thanks for your advise. Jim

Try a Pinnacle Deadbolt 25 or 30 in either the Regular or Limited models. Smooth, Awsome drag, and light in weight. The regular Deadbolts run around $55.00 and the Limiteds are around $95.00
You have an excellent fishing rod buy an excellent reel.

I have a Sahara 1000 on a Loomis SJR721 (6' one piece) and it balances beautifully...Not the same rod as you, but comparable in size...hope this helps...

I like the 1000's for those weights of line. I like the 2000's for 8# and up. If you are going to use it ice fishing FORGET the Pinnacle!!

I used to be the biggest fan of Deadbolts. I would not fish unless I had a Deadbolt. After I burned through 10 of them in two years, I couldn't bring myself to buy another one of them. They are very smooth out of the box, but fish with them for a year and they start to grind. Also, if you fish with those reels when the temp. is below 40 degrees, the anti-reverse slips, especially when setting the hook. I know it is not a freak occurance because it happened to ten of mine. If you don't fish very much, it is a good real, but if you fish HARD, you may want to look at something else. I'm not trying to bash Pinnacle, I'm just relaying my experiences. Good Luck

If you're going to use Fireline, consider the 1000. I bought a 2000 Stradic, and have to fill the spool to about 60% capacity with mono backing before adding 2/6 Fireline.

I have the same St. Croix with a deadbolt limited 25 on it. I really like the setup, but have had the reel for two years, and it seems like it is starting to wear out. The anti slips every now and then. I am getting nervous each time I use it. Don't forget to check out Daiwa emblems. They seem like good quality, and have gotten rave reviews.

I bought a Quantum Micro lite reel for only 32.00 at Bass Pro shops. It holds a 120 yards of 2/6 fireline and has 5 ball bearings. It is light as a feather and very smooth. I use it for ice fishing and then pair it with a Shimano Speedmaster 61/2 ft rod. I have caught a 6 lb rainbow and a 12 lb pike on it with no problem. It is is a great jigging setup.

Ditto on the cold! On my last ice Lake Trout trip both of my friends Pinnacles LOST all anti-reverse in the cold! Not in the cabin at night all warm and toasty.

I just started fishing with them this year. I will keep an eye out for problems. I have heard from several pro's that if you do have problems Pinnacle/Silstar will fix or replace them without any hassles. I was looking at the Diawa and the Shimanos, but for what you get the price is a little too much. Thanks for the word of caution.

I have a few Sedonas and a Symetre. Just picked up a Sahara. I also have a couple of Deadbolts. The Sahara seems pretty smooth, but I have not had a chance to use it very much. The Symetre is the smoothest and best feeling reel that I have had. I think you may be better served with spending a bit more for the next level of quality (like the Symetre) to match up with the quality of the rod. The 1000 model (of any of the Shimanos) would be the correct size for your 4# to 6# line.

I have a 2000 Saraha on a 5'9" St Croix Avid 1 pc. Use primarily 6# line for jigging (1/16 and 1/8 oz). This combination is well balanced and works extremely well for me.

You don't have to purchase the top of the line shimanos! I am not a cheapskate. I fish all Loomis rods but use the little Saharas on those rods. They run around 55 dollars and work wonderfully for me.

I hop someone from Pinnacle reads this board, I would love to start using them again if they could fix the problem!
