Don't know too much about this lake except that it continues to grow in size. How much weight should we expect. What are most of the guys going to be doing? Trolling, jigging, slip bobs?
Any favorites?? Hopefully not as many bad incidents as the PWT at bago.

I would expect the entire arsenal will be thrown at them. Slip bobbers in the trees can pick up some hogs as well as jigs. Pulling cranks work well for big eyes too but time will tell if that bite gets going. At this point, cranks are not hitting yet. It will be interesting to see what bite is the best. The lake has so much structure, it will depend on weather patterns.

The weather has been a little goofy here lately with the fronts and the almost daily wind shifts. I have been out daily and haven't found one pattern to shine two days in a row. Sunday did well trolling and Monday couldn't buy a decent fish trolling but caught a couple decent one pitching countdowns shallow. Yesterday trolled again and did alright but nothing bigger than 3 lbs. Did really well today with jigs but had to work alot of areas before you found areas that held fish.
The chamber tourney a week and a half ago was won with 52 lbs and the top 6 were all over 40 lbs with 10 fish and 25th place was 30 lbs. I don't think the weights will be quite as good now but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that first place with 18 fish will be between 65 and 70 lbs. That is unless the weather takes a real dump, lol.
Should be an exciting tourney and will be interesting to find out what methods produce the best weights.

I am thinking from the fishing my buddies had there last weekend it will take 80lbs. to win and maybe even 90 (that might be a stretch). Sure wish I was there.

If it weren't for the fact that I've been out everyday and the goofy weather I would agree with you but right now I'm sticking with my guess. We've had a front come through Sunday night and we've got t-storms moving through right now with a 70% chance of the same tomorrow morning. Also forecasting highs for the next two days that are 10 degrees cooler than we've been having. I kinda hope I'm wrong it would be exciting to see some 80-90 lb weights come out but even with 6 fish a day I would be absolutely amazed to see anyone come in with a daily average close to 30. Like I said, I'll stick with 65-70 lbs. A week ago I would have said 90 was possible but not now.

I'm going to throw in a shot at 62-63 pounds. We had a downpour here today in Mandan(should not hit Devils Lake)with flooding problems and some roads temporarily closed due to high water. We had .75 inches last night and that front did go through Devils Lake. So with the weather, weights will be down a little but weather is supposed to stabilize after Wednesday morning. I will be at the weigh-in Friday to cheer on a local pro/guide that I think has a good shot at it all; Jason Mitchell. Amatuer Pick is Howard Leier(pronounced lier). What better name for a fisherman!!!!Good luck to all competitors.

This is not even funny. Today on the noon report some farmer from north of Hillsboro(south and east of Devils lake 50-70 Miles I'm guessing) reported 12" of rain so I'm sure DL was in on some rain this morning.
BW(ND)
Gary Gray in a suprising spot. Knowing him he will probably come back and win it.

The huge amounts of rain that will fall in a few hours is
unbelievable. In Thief River we got only a couple of inches
last night. Grand Forks got 3 1/2 more. Crookston over 4 inches
and some real huge amounts at some places in the Red River Valley
and NorthCentral and Central Minnesota. Many 8 and 9 inch rainfalls
and a few a foot or more.
I dont think Devils Lake got huge amounts, the big rains were east
of there.
See you in September RistoRapper (this year for sure!!!!)

Expect Bruce Samson to win, he's originally from a town up near there
he really knows the area and older parts of the lake.

The Docter is in for sure.
Just out of curiosity, what bad incidents at Winnebago are you refering to?
Tom
He is probably referring to the locals fishing in some of the pros spots on the last day of the tourney and some arguments between competitors. Search previous threads, this was a well beaten horse.

This always happens, fridays are busy days on the water, the good ones always adapt or have big leads and get enough to win the last day. Bruce will do it. 2 big days one enough to bag it.

Tom Backer made a big push today. Yesterday really hurt him, but he is headed the right direstion now.
I know a few fishing the DL PWT event & I can't help but root for the local roughriders.
Getty up!

With the weather straightening it's self out now I expect some really good weights to show up today for the last day of the tournement, and make the last day of this very interesting. It will be very interesting to see how the qualifying from western division shapes up.

Big flip flop do to a heavyweight tournament, fellas doing good here,
are bumping fellas that in on the last too. Thought the Glorvigans would stay up there but they did not do well 2 days to stay with the top 20 in the tournament
Big weight coming in already. Gonna be the best day by far. 95 to win.
