How do you know it's time to change out existing media in a tumbler? I'm using ground cobs.
I suspect it may be time for me to dump and put in some new media, but I've never really known what the indications are that it's "time" to replace.
A batch I cleaned yesterday had a buildup of crud at the base of the neck. It was fairly easy to remove with a soft cloth while I was cleaning the media from the cases. I figure that build up is either due to media that has to be changed, or maybe the amount of polisher I put into the tumbler. I put in another batch immediately following the one I took out, but didn't put any polish in the media for this batch. I generally only put in polish every 2-3 batches.
I've cleaned somewhere north of 2000 cases with the current media.
