Pete_ 01-27-2012, 07:45 AM thanks, for the photos
i really like the 09 model!!
Keckers 01-27-2012, 11:22 AM I looked at the Alumacraft 185 very hard as Cabelas had a left over 2009 in Dundee Michigan. I think I was there looking at it for 6 hours. My big complaint was that the motor controls were not recessed into the gunnel like the Lund Pro V's. Instead the gunnel remained wide which moved the controls closer to the driver seat and would not allow for the seat to be swiveled perpendicular to the boat so I can steer and look back while I was trolling. This was important to me as I like two people in the boat and I liked the kicker connected to the steering wheel. I also did not like the dash which I thought was extremely low including the steering wheel which I found I had to move all the way up to get my legs under it while getting in and out of the chair. Minor things but I found annoying.
I took the wife to a Lund dealer and asked her to find something wrong with the 1875 Pro V. Surprisingly she did not find anything except for the price. We did buy a Pro V and I just picked it up yesterday 01-26-2012 and I cant wait to play with it tomorrow on saturday to start hooking up my pole holders and playing tackle box.
Both boats are good but I found the Pro V to have more storage space, more options, and most importantly, no complaints from the wife.
I think the Pro V 1875 ifs with a 150 merc was running about 32k. Options will make it go up but i found the extended warranty of 5 years on the Merc and knowing it was a new boat out weighted the price. I really could not be happier... well... maybe if the ice was gone
shorthairsrus 01-27-2012, 11:34 AM doesnt the drivers side seat have an adjustment to move you out and away from the controls. I am 6 - 1 and i can move my seat so if i want to fish facing the side.
Pete_ 01-27-2012, 02:17 PM i know what your talking about on the pro v my friend just boat a 1900prov with the full windshield and that notch out for the controls is very nice i am 6'3" and find that option nice thanks for pointing that out on the trophy....after being on this site for a few days now looking at all kinds of posts i almost am starting to lean towards a few different boats then the first ones i was initially set on....the tournament or trophy......now i am almost leaning towards a pro v or a reata... i wonder how the ranger reata is for sitting in the drivers seat with your knees to the controls???? even in my alumacraft 165 cs magnum i have i can turn the seat to the side and fish out of it with my knees to the controls and it works but i have to have the seat all the way back..
I have just started to have such a problem when we go out on the lake anymore we have to decide who to take with us to go out and play cause of the 5 people limit on my current boat....I do almost as much fishing as i do crusing around tubbing and skiing and what not....so its time to get a nice boat that will take care of all my needs and last me for quite a while!! its fun looking though
Pete_ 01-27-2012, 02:19 PM Forgot to say Yeah i can't wait for the ice to be gone as well...can't wait to fish!!!
AllenW 01-28-2012, 06:51 AM I have the 185 Tourny Sport with a yammie F150 and with the seat back you can't swivel around to face backwards, I had Alumacraft move the seat back and out a few inches and that made it better, recessed controls would have been nice.
I looked at the other Alumacraft models but this one fit my fishing style the best, I did find a mid speed porposing problem with the boat.
It seems to only be a problem if you add the kicker motor, I have a T-8 and it works great though.
I've ordered trim tabs for the boat and that should take care of this problem.
Would I buy the boat again?
Yup! :D
Go look at what models your thinking of, sit in them for 20 mins or more and think how is this boat going to fit what I want?

Karloutdoors 01-29-2012, 09:37 PM My Tournament sport 185. Love it. Coincidentally, my boat is the older brother to the 2008 boat in the link posted by Hot Runr Guy previously in this thread. The previous model year of the same boat owned by the same guy, Walt Mattan. I'd recommend taking a close look at the boat in the link. The boat I purchased from him was immacualte and would expect this boat to be the same. Although mine was only 2 yrs old when I bought it vs 4 yrs on this one
