I have a Alumacraft Trophy 175 with a 125 Merc on it and I have no problem around the 2MPH range.I would think your 4 stroke Yamaha could run all day trolling and have no problems.Best of luck and maybe a yamaha owner will help you out.Ryan(Setter)Hale

that will be a nice boat for you--my 175 has a 115 yamaha 4 stroke and will troll down to 2.3 put your trolling motor down and it will troll down .5 less. I will run that motor 14 hours at a time without even shuuting it down---they are great motors-u will love it--
Hi Striker. Is it hard on a motor to troll with it? Some folks do it all the time. It works for them. I have a different view based on how I use my rig. I use my 90hp for just gettin there and back. I troll with a 8hp kicker. My 90 has 75 hours on it. My 8hp kicker has 347 hours on it.
It makes sense to me to put all of those hours on a much cheaper kicker. Why would you want to add all of those hours to an expensive main engine? The kickers are cheaper, go slower, get better gas mileage and are cheaper to replace. Another benefit is that if you have a main engine failure you will still have some power to get you home.
Take care,
