Is this a quality motor? From what I understand it's a Suzuki EFI and is a strong runner.
This is my first 4 stroke other than a kicker. Is there anything special that needs to be checked or watched with these?
It is an excellent Suzuki motor dressed up in Johnson colors.
Buy it and live long and catch a bunch of fish.

You can`t get any better than that motor.
You just have to have a mechanic look it over to make sure it`s in good shape.
valves in good ajustment, Check timming belt if it has one(could be chain driven). Compression check.
Make sure the water pump is in good shape, charging system puts out 14v. Tilt and trim cylinder works good, Then check gear oil for water or metal shavings.
These are solid motors. Make sure it was taken care of.

I have the 140hp 4 stroke Johnson and have to say I had reservations at first but the first time I took it out that all went away. I have owned it for 4 years now and have nothing negative to say. It is extremely quiet, so much so that I have actually tried to start it while it was idling. It is also great on fuel and has good low end power. I would certainly buy another without any reservations next time.

I ran one for 4 years on a C-liner 1750. Absolutely terrific motor. Ran it 12 months a year, started the first time, every time, whether it was 15 degrees or 95 degrees out. I echo all of the positive comments above about quietness and reliability.
The only comment I'd make is to think about dealer support. It is, after all, a nearly 10-year old motor at this point and it will eventually need more attention than a brand new one. If you have a suzuki dealer near you, you're in good shape. If the nearest is many hours away (and suzuki dealers aren't nearly as widely distributed as merc or yamaha dealers), that may be something to consider.

Thanks Jason. Dealer support was a consideration when I looked at it. There are 3 dealers near me (10miles) that are, or were Johnosn dealers, two whom I trust and the other I just don't know much about
I did run the motor and the kicker which is also a Johnson, and they fired right off and ran fine. The dealer also gave me a 30 day warranty after fishing opener, which helps my confidence as well.
Thanks guys.
