Hi all - I was on LOTW during the last PWT event. It was my first time seeing a PWT event, and pretty cool.
Anyway - we were fishing outside the gap, maybe a mile out into the lake in 24 feet, and my buddy set the hook. Pulled up some old line... with a custom made rod (initialed MER) and a leftie Abu. My buddy talked to a guide at the resort (Ballards, for those of you who know the area) who said he lost a left handed setup.
Well, we bring it back and show it to that guide, and he says it isn't his, but sees the MER and says "That's MER's!" another guide up there. Mer lost it two weeks earlier.
Anyway, Mer has his rod back (even though he has another being made)and is sending reel to Spirit Lake to be fixed up. It ends up he is from the area we duck hunt at and we know a bunch of the same people... pretty cool! And now we have a new friend in Baudette!
Well, just thought I'd relate a weird story - and btw, I was fishing a local lake yesterday and caught an ice fishing rod and reel! 2 rods in 2 weeks... now if I could just sart catching fish ;)
