Seems like my net is always in the way, especially when I have 2 or 3 people in my boat. I've tried laying on the floor only to get tripped over. Even tried a flush mount rod holder into the gunnel. Doesen't seem like there is a good place for it unless I am fishing by myself. Where do you store yours and still maintain easy access to it??? Thanks, Jim

Jimmy,

I have a net with a collapsable handle. It still gets in the way, but not quite as often. I've tried putting nets all over the boat and finally have found an alright location. I put it in between the drivers seat and the side of the boat. This isn't the greatest for me, but so far it's been the best location to date. The vertical holder works great when trolling however.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-13-00 AT 03:16AM (CST)[p]I like to put mine under a fish now and then ;-)
Sorry, I couldn't help!
I have mine in a vert. holder next to the console on my Pro-V. Most of my fishing is vert. jigging and pulling three-ways with only two guys in the boat. Little or no casting. I have vert. rod holders on the other side for jigging rods and more across the back the pulling rods.
Hope this helps,

P.S. My net is a frabil power-catch with a retractable handle. I trailer the boat with net retracted in the net holder. The console keeps it turned so it don't catch the wind.

This is something Lake Michigan fishing taught me over 30 years ago -- use a vertical net holder.

I've yet to see the boat where a good site for a vertical net holder does not exist. In fact, lots of big water anglers will have two such holders with nets for the inevitable double headers.

And, there's an important rule to remember. Don't go for the net first. Attend to other gear, fight the fish, get the fish close to the boat, THEN get the net. Too often someone goes immediately for the net as soon as a fish is on, ignoring other "team" functions needing attention long before the net is needed. Good fishing & good netting.
