is it better to run shallow diving crankbaits on leadcore or downriggers or does it make any difference? thankx

With leadcore I would stick with shallow running baits because you are not going to force the leadcore down too much farther than it will go anyway. Now with downriggers it is said not to run divers on them, however, if you have spooky/finicky Walleyes that you suspect are being turned off by the dowrigger ball, use them. Here's how, first let's say you are marking fish 40 feet down, and you want to present a #9 shad rap, consult with your precision trolling guide on the depth curve of your bait, lets say you have to let out 75' to achieve 15' depth(dont think that is right, dont have my bible with me right now) , go ahead and let out the 75' and then attach to your downrigger release, drop your ball 25' and you should be right in the money!!
