I was just looking over the results of the Wave Wacker tournament just recently completed on the updates page. I couldn't help but notice a pretty intimadating team that took second. Can you imagine lining up at the starting line and looking over to the next boat, and there is Al and Jim Linder sitting there?
Just like us, they put their pants on one leg at a time!

Youre right, but I would be nervous going up against any team with Al Linder sitting at the bow.

We caught tons of smallmouth off Pelee Island one day within sight of Al Lindner and Roland Martin. Talked to Lindner later in the day in Sandusky and learned he and Martin had taken only one fish. They used the same baits we did, but worked very shallow -- we hit fish in the 20-25 depths off shore. Didn't tell him how many we caught, but probably should have.
Martin was there to do some filming for TNN.

About ten years or so ago, I found myself fishing next to babe Winkelman, who was filming a sequence on the Detroit River in April. Pretty much kicked his behind - ##### near the best day of my then-young fishing career. Also, I found it interesting that once the camera lights went out - out popped the smokes and the cussin' started. Just a regular guy.

Yeah, Yeah, I hear you all barking. There isn't a guy on this site who wouldn't throw his partner overboard in a second, if Al Linder walked up and asked to be your partner that day. Including me, "Eric I hope you can swim".

We've all had this experience: our boat is catching fish, boats within 15 yards of us are catching none - - and the other way around!!
In '90 or '91 (I forget which year), my wife and I were not in the Chain of lakes tournament in Alex. MN, but we boated more fish than Gary Roach. My wife caught a 29 1/2 inch walleye that would have been worth lots of money had we paid to enter.
But I know what you mean Neal. I've never been intimidated in fishing tournaments, but billiard tournaments. . . used to ratttle me . . .BAD . . . when the big sticks walked in.- Kevin B

What boat are you gonna throw me off of? I would consider that mutany and you would have to walk the plank!
Your float tube will not hold you and the Lindners trout boy!

You make a good point. I guess you could have me arrested at the weigh in.
Oh by the way, "it's trout man to you".

Hey Neal,
I fish every week with Big Al! Just requires a little finesse to get remote away from the wife.

I know what you mean. I go downstairs and park in front of the TV every saturday morning. It drives my wife crazy. Which is another good reason to watch as many fishing shows as possible.
Okay guys.

Yes the linder name has it's impact, and Parker, Winkleman, Martin, Skarlis, Martin, Roach, Parsons, etc. Obviously some more well known than others.
I saw the standings, did you see where Ron Linder finished? Or Tommy Skarlis, and so on? Not to take away from any of these gentlemen.
The fact is, these days, the tournament roster is full of names that are attached to really good fishermen and women. The funny thing is, most of them don't have the name recognition. And the ones that do do get beat by the ones that don't.
Speaking of names, I wish I had a nickel for everytime I heard, "Gary Who?", when talking to some anglers (probably bass fisherman)about one of my idols, Mr. Roach.
