are their GL2 rods any where as good as the IMX models? I need a new medium 6'spinning rod and want to keep the price at $130 max. i have been using a Fenwick HMG but local dealers will not warrenty them any more. I need somthing in the 6-12pound line range,1/8 to 1/2 lure range. Any suggestions?

I can't help you much with the GL2, But I have a 6' GL3 and simply put, it's the best rod I've yet to buycost me 130 Canadian, but I've heard for some reason we can get Loomis's cheaper up here than you guys down there...don't ask me why, nothing else is LOL!

I think when you get into the GL2 rods you are paying for the name only. I have GLX and IMX rods and I love them. When you go down to a GL2 personally, I think that many of the other rods; St. Croix, Falcon, etc.., are just as good and a little cheaper. If you don't mind paying about 40-60 dollars more to have GLoomis on the side, go for it! They are still great rods.
Melonbob,
I agree , the GL2 is a dead stick compared to the IMX. I have just got done using the new Falcon Expert Series and have found it to be the equal of an IMX. Plus the Falcon comes with the new Alconite rod guides and a really sensitive reel seat. They cost anywhere between 130 and 165 dollars and really are a sweet rod.

My GL2 sits in my garage while my St. Croix Premier and my Hagen rods go fishing. Enough said.
