Walleyes on Leech

Where are the walleyes? Recent reports indicate extremely slow success while other lakes (i.e. Mille Lac) are having phenomonal success. Any thoughts (i.e. conservation, forage base, DNR management, weather)? Any fishing tips for immediate solutions?

leech lake is experiencing the exact opposite of mille lacs lake. the forage base on leech lake is exploding. this natural cycle is evident in all lakes.
the beauty of this cycle is - the fishing pressure typically goes down when the bait is exploding in a lake! leech lake will benefit by the decrease in fishing pressure this year. the amount of walleyes taken out of leech lake this year was significantly less than last year. i am looking forward to the creel surveys from the DNR.
the bite has been picking up and we are looking forward to fishing on Leech Lake this weekend. see you on the water. even with a tough bite, she is the finest lake in MN.

I am far from a Leech Lake expert - I've only ever fished it a few times. However, I think it would benefit from some stricter regulations - maybe like Rainy or Winnie.

We spent last week on leech and had good luck with the walleyes. Every fish we kept was crammed full of 2"-4" perch. I have to agree that forage on Leech is not a problem for the walleyes-just the fishermen.

schnauzer, the walleyes on leech lake have been increasing in size and numbers. the lake biologists working the lake for the MN DNR have seen an increase in the netting surveys that they have conducted for the last five years in a row without a restrictive slot. the lake is very healthy and it doesn't need any protection from itself. the best possible thing that could have happened is to have a tough year of fishing. the lack of fish caught is a reflection on the abundance of bait in the lake. i have caught many fish on leech lake this year that were exploding with bait. schnauzer; it would benefit you and your fishing experts to figure out the Mille Lacs problem prior to imposing restrictions on a healthy lake like leech lake. does the slot talk make guys feel better when they can't catch fish? there seems to be a corralation. fish more, govern less!
