My friends and I rented a houseboat on lake cumberland KY. We had a great time, fished, drank , ate, fished ,drank you get the idea.
In the head, there was a sign "do not flush anything you did not eat"
So....we obeyed, there was even a waste basket for the TP.
One day the generator on the boat broke, the maintainance man came to fix it, my friends and I cralled around all over the bilge in this boat and could not find a holding tank. Please tell me I am blind.
The maintance man said the poop is treated with strong bleach and flushed out. DO I SENCE BS.
TELL ME........

Mike,
hate to tell ya this...but...everything ya ate ended up in the lake.
I've heard that the houseboats at the state dock have holding tanks but the other rental fleets don't and claim to "treat" the waste before it goes over but i'm a little dubious about that. All the private houseboats and cruisers as well usually dump right in the lake. Pumpouts are far and few between on the lake. It's really a shame too. I really wish they'd go to holding tanks on all the boats.
I have a houseboat on Laurel Lake in Kentucky and they have pumpouts and sewer lines running out to all the docks so they can pump out the houseboats in their slips. Much cleaner lake.
